1,000 Books Before Kindergarten - Sharing books together every day is one of the best ways to encourage learning. Reading together helps children to develop important pre-reading skills, providing a solid foundation for reading. Register with Beanstack online website.

Camp Bookworm Storytime - Camp Bookworm is the perfect Storytime for your 3-5 year old. Stories, songs, and arts and crafts will keep your little one entertained and engaged in reading. Camp Bookworm will be held every Wednesday at 10:30 am at The Literacy Depot located at 406 N Rockwall Street Terrell, TX 75160.

Camp Wiggle Worm Storytime -  A NEW storytime at HPL filled with stories, songs, and a movement based activity! Designed just for you and your 0-2 year old. Camp Wiggle Worm will be held every Friday at 10:30 am at The Literacy Depot located at 406 N Rockwall Street Terrell, TX 75160.

Read with a Dog-Love On A Leash® Pet Therapy - Take a "Paws" on life's stressors and come Read with a Dog! Benefits: lowers blood pressure, releases endorphins for a calming effect, provides comfort, encourages communication, improves self-confidence, and encourages literacy! All ages are welcome to meet Love On A Leash® Therapy dogs! Check the calendar for upcoming dates!

Resources and Activities

Early Learning Kits - Early Learning Kits for early childhood development are now available for checkout and in house use at the library. Kits include board books, toys, early learning tools, musical instruments and instructions. This collection has been made possible by a generous contribution from the Randy Snow Foundation.

Teaching Materials Collection - Kits are available for checkout or for use in the library. Materials in this collection are designed to support parents teaching their young children at home and/or parents engaging in reinforcing school learning. This collection has been made possible by a generous contribution from Film Alley in Terrell.

AWE Station - The library has two AWE learning station with preloaded educational games and activities for children. Children can login to 15 minutes sessions of learning fun on these all-in-one touchscreen computers!

LaunchPads- Playaway® Launchpads are pre-loaded with content for kids and teens designed with a simple, easy-to-use interface and 100% secure, Launchpad tablets are made to be passed from one set of hands to the next. Launchpads are available for in-house checkout only with an adult present.

Playaway - Playaway® is the simplest way to listen to an audiobook. Unlike CDs, audio cassettes or downloads, Playaway does not need a separate player. Instead, Playaway comes pre-loaded and ready to use. Simply plug in earbuds and enjoy. Limit of 3 per household.

Wonderbooks - Playaway® is changing the way kids read along. Every Wonderbook is a print book with a ready-to-play audiobook inside. Kids will press play to read along with their favorite books and then switch to learning mode for literacy learning and fun. Limit of 3 per household.

Maker Space, STEM Center, Exploration Hub - The Discovery Maker Mobile STEM Center brings innovation into the library. Smart, fun, and tough. Rugged engineering and practical design. 55" interactive front panel and magnetic whiteboard. Available times coming soon at the Literacy Depot.

Imagination Wall - The whole family can enjoy lego building at the library on our Imagination Wall!

Chalkboard Wall -Young children may draw away on our fun chalkboard wall!
